About

a girl on a roll

Bio: I am many things rolled into one. Seriously. I am a daughter, wife, mother, teacher, friend and I love making cooking videos for youtube. I am all that and everything in between. This blog is dedicated to all my interests. Somedays it will be about cooking, some days I will blog about travel and at other times, teacher stuff. Because that's who I am & I enjoy all my roles and interests. A little bit about my youtube channel Aasai Rasai (It's a Sinhala term; Aasai means 'Like' & Rasai means 'Tasty'). I am a Sri Lankan by birth and an American by naturalization. When I first arrived Stateside, finding Sri Lankan groceries at the ethnic stores was like a wild goose chase. So I started learning to cook Sri Lankan food that I never cared to try before. String Hoppers, Hoppers, Pol Roti, Kottu, Godhamba and the list goes on. Sometimes, with my 1st born perched on the kitchen counter or on my hip. Nothing was going to stop me from fixing my cravings for good old Sri Lankan food. Now, child #1 is a teen and he suggested I put up youtube videos of my cooking. I loved the idea, borrowed his ipod & the rest is history. Well not quite. He wanted his ipod back so I now I use a digital camera. 🙂 Welcome to my blog. I hope you take away inspiration, knowledge, laughter or something else from here. Sincerely, A girl on a roll.
